Processing of personal data by the JUSTNORT Consortium
This privacy policy explains how the JUSTNORTH consortium uses your personal data from you when you visit our site. We follow the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and adapt our routines continuously so that the processing of personal data for which we are responsible does not violate the rights and freedom of individuals.

The JUSTNORTH Consortium processes personal data in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council, the General Data Protection Regulation. THis is often referred to by the abbreviation GDPR.
What data do we collect?
JUSTNORTH is a research project in the public interest. Only the personal data required to publicize the research and its findings may be processed. We collect the following information:
Personal identification information (Name, organization, and e-mail address) of voluntary subscribers
How do we collect your data?
You directly provide information to the JUSTNORTH Consortium when you:
Voluntarily register as a subscriber.
Complete a survey.
Use or view our website via your browser`s cookies.
Data collected automatically when you visit our site.
How will we use your data?
The JUSTNORTH Consortium collects your data so that we can:
Send you semi-annual newsletters and project announcements
Assess interest in the JUSTNORTH project and its results
How are your personal data protected?
The JUSTNORTH Consortium securely stores all data at Uppsala University, Sweden in a secure file system only accessible by the JUSTNORTH Consortium project managers. The data are encrypted, stored in specially protected IT environments. The data are kept only for the duration of the project and thereafter will be deleted.
Transfer of personal data to third countries
As an international research project, JUSTNORTH occasionally shares personal data with other countries in or outside the EU/EEA (e.g. the United States), in connection with our partner research institutions. The international research project, in this case, is our responsibility to ensure that we or our partners take the legal, organizational, and technical measures required to protect your personal data. You have either already been informed of this or will be informed if and when the question arises.
What are your data protection rights?
The JUSTNORTH Consortium would like to make sure you are fully aware of all your data protection rights. Every user is entitled to the following:
The right to access– You have the right to request the JUSTNORTH Consortium for copies of your personal data.
The right to rectification-You have the right to request that the JUSTNORTH Consortium corrects any information you believe is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask the JUSTNORTH Consortium to complete information you believe is incomplete. We are required to rectify inaccurate personal data without undue delay. However, we do not need to correct your data if they are only being processed to document completed research.
The right to erasure-You have the right to have your personal data erased from the JUSTNORTH Consortium data management system as long as they are not official documents. They will be erased if you request to unsubscribe to the website.
The right to erasure is severely limited by the regulations on official documents and by the requirements of research or study documents.
If Uppsala University cannot erase your data for legal reasons, we will limit the processing of your data to include only what is required to meet our obligations under the legal provisions.
The right to restriction of personal data processing-You have the right to request the restrictions of our processing of your personal data. This means that we only process your personal data for certain specific purposes. We will restrict the processing in the following cases:
If you assert the persona data are inaccurate and we need time to certify the accuracy of the data.
If you object to processing carried out by us. In that case, the processing will be restricted until your grounds for objecting have been weighed against the obligations to process data to which we may be subject on legitimate grounds.
If you consider that we should erase your personal data but we are unable to do so for some reason.
The right to object to processing-You have the right to object at any time, for reasons related to your particular situation, to the processing of personal data, including profiling. This right does not exist when data treatment is necessary for the public interest, or when it is necessary to satisfy the legitimate interest of the JUSTNORTH Consortium.
